Abortion Essay

What is the abortion? Abortion is a medical process of the termination of the pregnancy. In simpler words, it is a killing of the little, innocent life that did not make its parents enter the adult life without any contraception. The abortion can be conducted either with the help of medication or surgery depending on the duration of gestation. Although any kind of this procedure has to be carried out under strict observation by doctors, a lot of women, especially teenagers, take any pill that is not expensive and easy to find in drugstores.

The effects of such experiments are almost always terrifying: hormone disorders, heavy bleedings, and inability to conceive and carry a child in future. Some young women confuse the morning after pill that can only be used as emergency contraception and is effective only before the occurrence of the pregnancy with the medication abortion. The second mistake made by young females is taking pills when it is too late even for the medication abortion. When more than seven weeks have passed, only the operation can be effective. By taking a lot of pills, they just waste the time, causing harm to their health.

The side effects that include strong cramps, bleeding, nausea, vomiting, fever, and chills will appear, and the child will be damaged, but the pregnancy still will not be terminated(“Induced Abortion”, 2001).

Very often, when they realize that nothing helped, even the surgery cannot be conducted due to the late term of the pregnancy. The heart of the embryo has already started beating and now it is a full human being. Unfortunately, some desperate women do not want to understand the pain, feelings of this small creature and still do their best to get permission for an abortion.

They claim that they were sexually assaulted, pay for the certificates with fake illnesses that do not allow to carry a baby. They do not realize that firstly, it is proved long ago that the child feels a strong pain, cries when its body is being torn apart and feels abandoned. The risks of surgical abortion are more than serious. They include prolonging bleeding, blood clots, infection with further fever, pain, and even scar tissue. There is also a high risk that the cervix will be damaged, and uterus will be perforated (Paul, 1999). At best, the woman will never have children, and, at worst, she will die. Before such procedures, all gynecologists are obliged to indicate all the side effects that will definitely be present, all possible risks and explain why it is so cruel. And they do this.

So what makes women still solve on such step? The reasons are quite common for all of them: being underage, not having the money even to provide for themselves, being unmarried and afraid of being scorned. There are also some other ridiculous reasons like the unwillingness to take the responsibility of someone’s life, waking up at night, and feeling not being ready emotionally to have a family and a child, unwillingness to postpone the career development. Sometimes the reason for the abortion can be very strict parents that abuse the girl physically and can even kick her out of the house in case she does something that does not appeal to them and is contradictory to their expectations(Robinson, 2007).

And there are also some cases when abortion has to be carried out in order to save the woman’s life. When the girl is younger than 14-15, their lives are endangered during the pregnancy and delivery of the baby; some women have serious health issues that will not allow carrying a baby. There are also possible problems with fetuses that will require surgical intervention like Down’s syndrome, or intrauterine asphyxia. There is also a law that allows the abortion on each term if the child was conceived after the rape (Robinson, 2007). I do not agree with this because children do not have to take the responsibility for the actions of their parent. As a last resort, I would recommend to deliver a child and let it find another family that has tried to conceive a child for years and now is ready to adopt a child.

There are so many families that are desperate to have a child but are not able to make their dream come true due to serious health issues. I think that it is a terrible sin to kill such a precious present from the God that even not all the people receive.
